Maestra Music, the not-for-profit organization supporting women and nonbinary musicians in the theatre industry, celebrated its second annual benefit concert March 28 at New York City's (Le) Poisson Rouge.
The event, hosted and directed by Tony nominee Kate Baldwin, featured words from founder Georgia Stitt and performances from Tony nominee Elizabeth Stanley (Jagged Little Pill), Jessica Vosk (Wicked), Mikaela Bennett, Bonnie Milligan (Head Over Heels), Michael Maliakel (Aladdin), Darius de Haas (Shuffle Along), Grace McLean (The Great Comet), Heidi Blickenstaff (Something Rotten!), Bryonha Marie Parham (Porgy and Bess), Lourds Lane (SuperYou), and Kennedy Caughell (Paradise Square).
Music Director Julianne B. Merrill and Associate Music Director Emily Erickson will led a band made up entirely of Maestra members, with Merrill on piano, Yuka Tadano on bass, Elena Bonomo on drums, Meghan Doyle on guitar, Mazz Swift on violin, Sasha Ono on the cello, and Chris MacDonnell playing tenor sax.
